Colmobil, the largest vehicle importer in Israel, has begun telling customers that a cybersecurity incident has disrupted portions of its operations. Regulators were notified, and the company sent dedicated teams to trace where the intrusion began.

Service continues, but at reduced capacity. Branches still accept vehicles and handle service on a limited basis. Whether internal systems or customer data were reached is unclear, and the company has not disclosed the extent of the breach.

The firm imports Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Ora, and Jaecoo vehicles and is controlled by the Harlap family. Asaf Harlap became chairman this year. Between January and the end of September, it delivered 62,657 new vehicles, per Israel’s importer association.

Importers occupy a crossroads where poorly connected systems meet. Registration paperwork, finance applications, parts logistics, and warranty claims all travel the same corporate network, and each of those flows moves buyer identity data along with it.

Israeli reporting points out that no prior case had publicly brought another domestic importer’s operations to a halt, which makes this stoppage significant no matter what the forensic review concludes.

The disruption arrived in the same week as an attack on refrigeration systems at French supermarkets, part of a wider wave of intrusions aimed at commercial infrastructure instead of government networks.
