Partnership Expansion for Automated Driving
Stellantis has deepened its multi year technology partnership with Qualcomm, announcing plans to integrate the Snapdragon Digital Chassis system on chips across its entire vehicle lineup. The expanded agreement covers cockpit, connectivity, and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions, with a specific focus on the Snapdragon Ride Pilot ADAS platform for Level 2+ hands free automated driving. The chips will be integrated with Stellantis’ STLA Brain electronic and software platform, enabling faster feature rollouts and cost reduction through platform standardization across all Stellantis brands.
Strategic Acquisition and Impact
As part of the deal, the two companies signed a non binding letter of intent for Stellantis’ automated driving and simulation subsidiary aiMotive to join Qualcomm Technologies, subject to conditions. This move signals a strategic consolidation of automated driving expertise under Qualcomm’s umbrella. Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer at Stellantis, emphasized that deploying this intelligent platform across the global portfolio delivers on the promise of unprecedented speed and efficiency. For automotive security engineers and OEM security teams, this integration raises considerations around securing the connected vehicle ecosystem, particularly as hands free ADAS features expand the attack surface for remote exploits and data privacy risks.
