Britain’s thieves have a favorite model, and it is the Nissan Juke. DVLA records covering the first half of 2026 count 197 of them taken, more than any other car in the country.
One county felt that appetite in a single burst. Thirteen Jukes vanished from Caerphilly County Borough within 24 hours before the morning of Friday, September 25, Gwent Police have confirmed. Officers recovered one vehicle and made no arrests.
A specific specification of Juke, built since 2010, appears to be the target, police believe. Many examples carry a keyless system run from a fob.
That kind of entry has been the weak point for years. Relay attacks capture a fob’s signal and replay it, so the car concludes the owner is present and unlocks. Germany’s ADAC has shown in repeated tests that a large share of keyless cars can still be driven away this way.
Manufacturers have answered with motion sensors and sleep modes. The handshake itself has been slower to change. Gwent Police want information on 101, log reference 2600313969.
